Waking-night care assistant work in care homes across Northampton and Leicestershire. Daytime home-care visits also available to top up hours. Training provided.
We are recruiting waking-night care assistants for care homes across Northampton and Leicestershire. If nights alone do not give you the hours you want, we can add daytime home-care visits around them, so you can build a week that fits your life.
On a night shift you are one of a small team responsible for the whole home while people sleep. The work is settling residents at the start of the night, doing regular comfort and safety rounds, repositioning people who need it to protect their skin, and being a calm, reassuring presence for anyone who wakes unsettled or confused. It is quieter than a day shift, but you carry more of the responsibility yourself and you often decide when something needs escalating. It suits people who are level-headed and comfortable working with less of a crowd around them.
This is our most spread-out area, so being matched to the right home matters more here than anywhere. There is night work in and around Northampton and out towards Daventry, and across Leicestershire from the city into the market towns. Because these are overnight shifts and public transport is thin at those hours, being able to drive makes a real difference to how much we can offer you — tell us your situation and we will be honest about what is nearby.
We train people who are new to care — a full induction, the Care Certificate, and all the mandatory training the role needs. On nights, what counts most is being calm, observant and completely dependable.
This is a zero-hours contract: you tell us your availability and pick up the shifts that suit you, with no obligation to accept a set number of hours.
This is our current rate. The basic hourly rate is the National Living Wage and is reviewed at least every April, in line with the legal minimum, so it rises over time rather than staying fixed.
Shifts, hours and which home or client you are assigned to depend on availability and the needs of the care homes and people we support, so they can vary from week to week. We will always be clear with you about what is available before you commit.
It takes about ten minutes, and you can do it on your phone.
